Aftermath Attends the Washington Homicide Investigators Association Conference

Last week, Aftermath had the honor of attending the Washington Homicide Investigators Association Conference (WHIA) conference, held at the Clear Water Resort in Suquamish, WA. The purpose of the conference is to help investigators keep up with current trends in the industry and improve their training and education. This was the first time Aftermath decided to visit the annual event in order to support continuous education for members of law enforcement.

High Energy Conference

Representing Aftermath were Stephen Brown, National Director of Business Development, and Jeremy Friedrich, Senior Manager of Funeral Home Relations. The conference had great, enthusiastic vibe, which carried throughout the venue. Energy levels were high and the investigators enjoyed the lectures. Presenters gave vital information which engaged their audiences, and vendors complimented the educational portions of the show by introducing products and services that could assist the detectives in their work. Stephen and Jeremy created awareness by informing attendees about the services Aftermath provides. Jeremy said: “We had some investigators ask if we serviced rural areas. When they were informed that we have offices across the entire country, they were shocked. Also they were impressed with our response time.”

Networking at the Conference

During the conference, the team met the Assistant Police Chief of Seattle, Robert Merner, who was presenting at the event. Previously, Merner worked for Boston Police Department, where he became familiar with Aftermath Services. While working in Boston, Chief Merner helped investigate the Boston bombing; his presentation concerned how to take control of a crime scene. Along with greeting investigators and answering questions, Aftermath also raffled off a Kindle Fire to one lucky conference goer. They also gave away padded portfolios, pens, hand sanitizers, carabiners, and even some of the famous Aftermath magnets.

Amazingly, it did not rain during the week. Attendees were treated to networking and social gatherings each night, and there was even a bonfire to compliment the great lake view. “I would like to say thank you to everyone that attended,” Jeremy said. “Everyone was very sociable and helpful, and we are already looking forward for next years conference!”
