Meet Last Year's Winners

Last year the prize went to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois. The department plans to use the money to purchase implants that will alert the handlers when a dog’s internal temperature rises too high.

Alongside Deputy Forlenza, Dax fancies himself an action star like John McClane in Die Hard. He takes his training seriously and always gets his man.

With his handler Deputy Somerville, Diesel provides comic relief for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. This Scooby Doo of a crime solver is always stirring up laughs.

Duke and his handler Deputy Arrowood bring some downhome charm to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a little John Wayne in the Land of Lincoln.
