Global Mortuary Affairs Partners with Aftermath to Offer Families Clean Up Services
In the business of death care, the number one priority for all businesses involved is serving the family. For Global Mortuary Affairs, their expertise lies in providing domestic and international shipping, consulate services, embalming, cremation and autopsy service to funeral homes and mortuaries through a network of affiliates. However, a 2007 incident made GMA CEO David Patterson realize that his business might be missing an important service families need specifically during times of tragedy, as in the case of a trauma or unattended death… death scene clean up.
After finding out a family was in need of a biohazard cleanup company, David and his team at GMA offered to lend a hand. “I personally worked with a local company to help in the cleanup process, and it was like a light bulb went off in my head,” David said. “This should be a part of the services we offer to our customers. There was a need, and we wanted to fill it.”
Although GMA had worked with some local crime cleanup companies, it wasn’t until meeting Aftermath last year that David saw the potential for a business partnership.
“Aftermath’s professionalism, quality of work and expertise were completely in-line with our [GMA] values and standards for serving our customers. It just made perfect sense,” David said.
Aftermath is the country’s leading biohazard remediation company, and provides families and property owners with compassionate assistance during a time of tragedy. For more than 16 years, Aftermath has developed a science-based approach to remediation that protects the health and safety of the family, while sanitizing the property to a pre-trauma condition.
For GMA, the partnership brings the benefits directly to the families they serve by extending their services to include biohazard cleanup and decreasing the response time to families in need. Aftermath is nationwide, and can serve GMA’s national network of clients quickly and efficiently.
“By working with Aftermath, our funeral home partners can care for the remains of a loved one, and confidently recommend Aftermath to help provide peace of mind to the family in regards to the condition of their home,” David said.
GMA has been educating their partners in funeral homes through seminars discussing the science behind Aftermath’s bioremediation process, and the advantages of offering this service to their customers. Since August, they have conducted a total of 11 educational seminars, and David says the response from funeral directors has been very positive.
“This partnership with Aftermath is a value-added to our services. Any funeral home who does not offer this service is missing the boat when serving families,” David said.
