The Aftermath K9 Grant

What is the Aftermath K9 Grant?

The Aftermath K9 Grant was founded to showcase, support, and reward the unique contributions made by K9 units across the country and, indirectly, to recognize and support the communities that we both serve. The month-long contest awards grants, up to $10,000 in total grants, to new or established K9 programs for maintenance, safety equipment, or officer training. Law Enforcement agencies can apply online by submitting a 300-word essay with accompanying photos of your K9’s or department showcasing how you can benefit from the Aftermath K9 Grant grant.

When is the grant?

Nominations for the 2020 K9 Grant will begin on September 8, 2020. Here are some dates to remember:

  • Nomination Period: 9/8 – 9/18
  • Application Review: 9/23 – 9/28
  • Winners Announced: 9/30

Who can apply?

Any Law Enforcement Agency that is in need of funding to maintain an existing K9 unit or looking to deploy a new one is eligible.

In 2019, grants totaling $22,000, were awarded to seventeen K9 units across the country. Open to law enforcement departments nationwide, last year’s K9 Grant involved almost 380 agencies. During the voting period, more than 484,000 votes were cast with almost 13,000 coming from Instagram fans showing support for their local department. Coos County Sheriff’s Office and their K9’s Odin and Raven took home the 1st place, $5,000 grant.
