Recently, Aftermath had the pleasure of attending two exciting conferences on the east coast. The Maryland Chiefs of Police held their 55th Annual Training Seminar in Ocean City from September 11th through the 15th. During the following week, the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police hosted their meeting and annual conference in Roanoke, Virginia. Representing Aftermath at both events was Mike Webster.
In addition to electing new leadership for the coming year, both meetings presented an excellent opportunity for officers and other law enforcement personnel to refresh specific skills, learn about new technology, and network with their peers. They were also able to meet directly with vendors like Aftermath, who deliver products and services that are of interest to the law enforcement community.
The Maryland Chiefs of Police Conference included numerous Professional Development Seminars which attracted over 400 police and other members of law enforcement. Topics ranged from engaging the community to handling difficult situations such as active shooter scenarios and line of duty deaths. This was the first time Aftermath had attended this event. Mike said that the highlight of the event, at least for him, was meeting Maryland’s United States Marshall, Johnny Hughes, who was appointed by President Obama.
The Maryland Conference had a traditional vendor’s area, where attendees visited booths and spoke to vendors at their leisure. While many of those who stopped by the booth had already heard of Aftermath, they were curious about the location of the various offices. Meanwhile, the Virginia conference did things a little differently. Attendees relaxed as they visited with vendors on an interpersonal level.The vendors circulated the banquet hall, visiting nearly 20 tables in total, each with 10 guests. Mike gave a 3 minute introduction to Aftermath to each group of attendees and answered their questions as he went. It was an exciting twist on the traditional format, and something Mike says he loved doing!
Speaking of traditions, Aftermath often hosts giveaways at each conference we attend, and these two events were no exception. Congratulations to Officer Panino of the Roanoke PD and Captain Wayne Young of the Havre De Grace Police Department in Maryland, both winners of 5.11 Tactical bags and PPE kits!
So what’s next for Aftermath? The end of this month includes conferences in the Midwest and in Oregon, and we’re just starting to gear up for next month’s big kick off of the Annual K9 Conference!
