(Ft. Myers, FL) – When a violent death occurs in a public space, such as the common area of an apartment complex, there is an added level of urgency to the cleanup. To avoid upsetting other tenants and prevent further contamination, building managers may place the burden on janitors or maintenance personnel. However, few have the proper training needed to remediate a death scene. After a homicide occurred in the stairway of a Fort Myers apartment, property owners recognized the need for a professional service company and called in Aftermath. On arrival, Aftermath technicians noticed blood on the concrete walkway and door leading into the building. Inside, the tile floor was covered with a saturated fluid-removal chemical, and additional bio was visible on the either wall along the stairs. Further, the rubber stair treads were also affected. Technicians immediately got to work; they removed the treads from the stairs and focused on cleaning and sanitizing the space inside and out, so that the building remained safe and habitable for residents.
